Our Impact
At WellCareGivers Kenya Services, we measure our success by the lives we touch and the positive outcomes we achieve. Here are some real-life examples and statistics that highlight our impact in the community.
For instance, Sarah, a mother of three battling diabetes and hypertension, was struggling with frequent hospital visits that strained her finances and health. Thanks to our skilled nursing services, Sarah now receives personalized care in her own home, significantly improving her health outcomes and reducing hospitalizations. This kind of support is vital for patients who need ongoing care but find it challenging to navigate the healthcare system.
Outcome Sarah’s health improved significantly, leading to fewer hospital visits and better management of her chronic conditions. Her family reported a noticeable increase in her quality of life.
Take for example Jane Oyoo, a 8 year old child battling type 1 diabetes, and requiring insulin injections on a daily basis. The family of Jane cannot afford a fridge, and lives in a locality without access to electricity. The family uses wet charcoal to preserve the insulin. As a result of poor storage of the drug, hence expiry, the child requires frequent hospital admissions with high blood sugar, resulting to frequent school misses. Lack of proper nutrition and diabetic diet counselling also contributes to frequent attacks. The child is now at risk of end organ damage and poor quality of life. We envision a period we shall own locally installed refrigerated services and cooler boxes that help us take our services closer to patients like Oyoo. We envision an outlook where Oyoo can attend schools irrespective of his condition. Thats why our upcoming affordable homecare equipment like glucometers as well as nutrition advisory will allow patients and their families easily find essential tools to manage their conditions.
We understand that caregivers often bear a heavy burden. That’s why we empower women like Mary Nyambura, a 72-year-old woman caring for her elderly mother while managing her own health issues. Through our caregiver training program, Mary gained essential skills that not only improved her mother’s quality of life but also enhanced her own well-being. Our training equips caregivers with practical tools and knowledge, fostering a sense of confidence and capability.
Outcome: Mary felt more confident in her caregiving role, which improved both her and her mother’s well-being. Mary now actively participates in community caregiver support groups.
Additionally, we support children like Wamae Kinyua, a 5-year-old boy with cerebral palsy, who required specialized equipment to improve his mobility. Through our online platform, Wamae’s family accessed affordable homecare tools that made a significant difference in his everyday life, showcasing our commitment to addressing the unique needs of children with neurodevelopmental disorders. Outcome: Wamae has gained increased mobility and independence, allowing him to engage more with his family and peers. His parents report significant progress in his therapy sessions
